Former Groupon and Expedia Executive to Lead HootSuite's Technology and Product Teams

HootSuite, the world's most widely used social relationship platform, today announced the appointment of AjaiSehgal as Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Sehgal brings expertise in building high-growth, high-volume development organizations to his role at HootSuite, heading the company's team of software engineers and driving product strategy.

Sehgal brings over 18 years of product and technology experience to HootSuite, most recently as vice president of product and technology at Groupon. Sehgal played a crucial role in the development of Groupon Travel, the travel arm of the group-buying website pioneer. Sehgal built a startup within a startup in the five-year-old business, transforming Groupon Travel into a scalable, e-commerce platform with integrated web and mobile products from the ground up.

Prior to Groupon, Sehgal spent over a decade in senior leadership and software engineering roles at leading online travel website Expedia. As vice president of technology, Sehgal oversaw a global team of over 300 developers, software engineers and managers. Sehgal helped transform the company of 60 people from a pre-IPO startup to the world's largest travel agency with over 14,000 global employees. At the time of Sehgal's departure in 2012, Expedia had an annual revenue of $4 billion.

This announcement comes at a time of expansion for HootSuite, which now has over 8 million users including 744 of the Fortune 1000 organizations. The addition of experienced senior talent with proven skills in leading teams and scaling infrastructure through rapid expansion is strategic for the company.
